Meta’s VR platform Horizon hit 300,000 users

Horizon, Meta’s social virtual reality (VR) platform, has now 300,000 monthly users, a tenfold increase since its launch in early December.

Horizon Worlds was released in early December to Oculus Quest VR headset users in the United States and Canada. Horizon Worlds was recently featured in Meta’s Super Bowl advertisement, and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg referred to it as “core to our metaverse vision”.

“It’s time. 10,000 worlds have already been created. Drop in and play, build or just hang out. The possibilities are endless.” – Horizon Worlds (on Twitter).

Horizon appears to be one of the main platforms for Facebook’s future Metaverse.

The business is betting big on what it calls “the next frontier of the internet,” having renamed the group from Facebook to Meta in 2021 and is investing billions of dollars to build technology, infrastructure, and ecosystems to attract users and developers to its new platforms.
