According to a recent trademark application, the New York Stock Exchange filed for a trademark centered on virtual assets and NFTs last week.
If the NYSE establishes a new marketplace, it would compete with Coinbase NFT Marketplace and OpenSea, the largest NFT marketplace today, with a market capitalization of $13.3 billion.
The filing isn’t the exchange’s first foray into this territory. Last year, the NYSE released its first NFTs.
This is just another indication that NFTs have attracted not only crypto enthusiasts, but also organizations and businesses of various sizes and industries.
