The Meltwater Champions Chess Tour, presented by PMG, is coming to The Sandbox. It has been announced that Animoca Brands and Play Magnus Group have formed a cooperation to bring the PMG chess tournament, as well as other components of its chess ecosystem, to the blockchain.
As Animoca Brands unites with Play Magnus Group (PMG) to bring chess into the metaverse, Magnus Carlsen, the most influential chess player in the world today, will make his Metaverse debut.
A Champions Chess Tour NFT collection will also be developed by Lympo, an Animoca Brands subsidiary.
The firm plans to develop a line of collectible chess player cards as well as a “blockchain-inspired” chess game based on the PMG Champions Chess Tour over the course of the next five years.
Fans will be able to communicate with their favorite players through the use of social tokens during the competition. Holders will also be able to engage in voting sessions, lotteries, surveys, and polls, as well as other activities.
